Professional and community activities:
Friedman was elected to Glendale’s City Council in April 2009.  She is Glendale’s representative to the Arroyo Verdugo Consortium of Governments Steering Committee and serves on the Housing, Community and Economic Development Policy Committee of the League of California cities.  She also is a board member of the Independent Cities Association. 

Friedman has held executive positions as a film producer with oversight of a yearly slate of films with combined production budgets exceeding $85 million.  A member of the board of directors of the Southern California Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians, Friedman was appointed three times to the city of Glendale’s Design Review Board and is the former vice chair of the Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee.

A breast cancer survivor, Friedman and her husband, Guillame Lemoine, a professional landscape designer, originated the concept of an annual garden tour fundraiser, which established free fitness programs for cancer survivors at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

Friedman was the recipient of the 2008 Character & Ethics Award from the Glendale Character and Ethics Project and the 2008 Flame of Hope Award from Glendale Adventist Medical Center.  She also received the 2006 Volunteer Recognition Award from the Los Angeles Conservancy.
