SPECIAL FEATURES OF MEMBER AGENCY

Lake Bard was named after Calleguas MWD's first board president, Richard Bard, and the district's first director on the Metropolitan board. The lake holds 10,500 acre-feet of water.

Calleguas has four hydroelectric power plants in operation. It will eventually have a total of five power plants. It maintains over 140 miles of pipeline ranging from 96-inch to 16-inch diameter.

Calleguas is developing the Salinity Management Pipeline (SMP) project to facilitate treatment of brackish groundwater by Calleguas purveyors by providing a discharge for brine concentrates and treated wastewater.  Ultimately, the pipeline treatment facilities are expected to generate 40,000 acre-feet annually in local water supplies.
