Sponsorship Categories and Application Criteria

The following supplemental criteria will be applied by the panel reviewers for programs and activities for applications requesting a sponsorship of more than $2,000.

      Program/Activity:

  • Does the program/activity include education on water resources?
  • Does the program/activity teach consumer indoor/outdoor water conservation measures—how to save water, use California Friendly native plants and use available water efficiency devices?
  • Could the program/activity have an immediate or ongoing positive impact on water conservation through flyers, door hangers, bill stuffers, signage, brochures, exhibit materials, banners or other marketing/advertising outreach communication, as listed in the application?
  • Does the program/activity provide specific, deliverable conservation actions and measures, beyond a general water conservation message, to a specialized audience (e.g., a water forum/workshop for homeowners’ assns./landscapers/property owners to discuss water saving devices/native plants; or development of a water conservation curriculum for school children; or a water conservation community outreach conference or similar activities)?
    Activity description:
    • Water resources conservation student contest
    • Water conservation forum/conference/symposium, etc. with a substantial indoor/outdoor consumer/ commercial water conservation message (1-3 days)
    • Water conservation curriculum for school children (for school districts or multiple schools)
    • Water conservation exhibit (longer term display from 1-12 months and beyond)
    • Comprehensive water conservation community outreach program for children and/or adults (e.g. water festivals, Earth Days, etc. that is multi-faceted and may occur over several months). 

 
      Member Agency Support

  • Does the member agency support this application?   

      Community Involvement

  • Volunteer participation in the coordination, facilitation, promotion or implementation of the program/activity?        

      Merit of Work Plan

  • Does staff (based on information on the application) have the experience to develop/ execute/complete the proposed program?

If the CPP track record results of a previously funded sponsorship were unsatisfactory (project is incomplete; applicant exceeded completion date without extension approval; funds were used for expenses other than designated; audience size was significantly smaller than indicated in application), a new application will not be considered.

      Specific Work Plan

  • Is this program/activity achievable within the given time frame and the stated work experience of the organization’s staff?          
  • Does the Work Plan include benchmarks and success measures?
  • If funded, is the program ready to proceed within a 12-month period?

      Funding
      Is a detailed project budget included?

  • The applicant has completed the budget section thoroughly.
  • Have additional funds been requested/secured through other partners?
  • Have confirmed or potential sponsors been listed?

      Overall Impression:
      Is the application solid, well written and meet the CPP criteria?

  • Did the applicant communicate the program’s/activity’s benefits in detail and in a readable, organized fashion?
  • Did the applicant precisely communicate the program’s/activity’s water conservation benefits?
