The CPP may not provide full funding. Applicants are encouraged to seek additional sponsors.

What if my organization is outside of Metropolitan's service area?
If your organization is located outside of Metropolitan's service area, an endorsement letter from your local water district, city water department and a community leader/legislator is highly desirable.
What's the review process all about?
Metropolitan Water District management reviews the applications to ensure that the proposed program or project meets the Community Partnering Program mission “…to encourage the discussion of water conservation, water quality, and water reliability issues important to the region through policy forums and educational collaborations.”
In addition, a review panel, comprised of a cross-section of corporate, public service and non-profit administrative professionals, as well as representatives from our member agencies' management teams and Metropolitan managers, evaluates each application.
When are the sponsorship funds disbursed?
For requests over $3000 Metropolitan's Board of Directors typically approves successful applicants three or four months after the application deadline [board meetings are the second Tuesday of the month]. Checks are mailed within two months following board approval.
How often can I apply?
Requests up to $3000 will be reviewed year-round (budget permitting); requests for more than $3,000 must be submitted by the bi-annual deadline for each fiscal year: Aug. 1 or Feb. 1.
A program or project will be only funded for two consecutive years, followed by a one-year hiatus. After the one-year hiatus, an applicant may apply for funding of an entirely new and different program.
After receiving a sponsorship award, what if we must make changes to our program or project agenda?
Any changes to a Community Partnering Program sponsored program or project must be approved by the CPP manager immediately. Proposed changes must still fall under CPP guidelines and provide a benefit to Metropolitan's mission as a regional water supplier.
After receiving a sponsorship award, what if we cannot spend the funds or cannot carry out the approved program/project within the designated 12 months after receiving the funds?
The CPP manager must approve any changes including an extension of the program/project timeline. The intent is to promote valuable water resources sponsorships, however, if it is determined that the program/project is no longer viable, the Community Partnering Program reserves the right to request sponsorship funds be returned within 30 days after our review of the requested change in program objective or an extension of the project timeline.
